Parade Brings Surprise Visitors, Old Favorites
by TONY REED Of the Advocate
When thinking back on this year's Holiday Lights Parade, most will immediately recall the collective roar of about 200 off-road cycles and ATVs filling the air. While motorcyclists of all ages filled about two blocks of the parade route, a voice on a loudspeaker trumpeted, "Give them a place to ride." Some riders tossed message-wrapped candy canes to the crowd. The message said Mendocino Coast's ATV riders want the state to open Off-highway vehicle recreation areas.
Parade judges this year were Superior Court Judge Jonathan Lehan, City Clerk Cynthia Van Wormer, and,
Chris Knoerdel, owner of the Atrium Bed and Breakfast.
Mendocino Coast Cyclists buzzed around the street like bees but never collided with each other or the three-wheeled cycle carrying Snow White, right.
