El dia de Los Muertos Event

Little River Inn offers a diversion from the usual activities with their "Day of the Dead" events starting Thursday evening Nov. 1 at the inn with continuous events day and night ending with Sunday Brunch on Nov. 4. The art show and auction starts Nov. 1 at 5 pm. Community art will be on display and then auctioned that evening. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds goes to our country's primary domestic violence assistance organization, Project Sanctuary.

Lions Charity Golf Tournament

On November 4, the Fort Bragg Lions will be sponsoring its first charity golf tournament. They are looking for businesses and individuals who can donate items for the live auction, raffle and/or sponsor a hole for $50. Signs will be posted at each hole showing the name of that hole's sponsor. They will also post a list of raffle prize donors. With this help they will be able to continue serving our community with eye care, scholarships, fireworks, Senior Christmas Dinner, Christmas Toy Run, and Care Bears. For more info call 707-961-6082.

Apple Insomnia Film Contest

Students at Mendocino High School have entered a film in the Apple Insomnia film contest. The contest consisted of: a twenty-four hour time limit in which the students had to come up with an idea, film, edit and include certain elements presented by apple. In order to be considered by the judges they have to achieve lots of votes. With your help they could win. To vote and view the film, simply go to www.apple.com/education/insomnia
then go to the gallery link and sign in with an iTunes or Apple account. Search for '3001' and select rating and press the arrow to submit your vote. (If you also submit comments, they are reviewed by Apple prior to posting online). Good Luck MHS!!

Pizza Night and Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football will be a lot of fun at Round Table Pizza! Stop in Monday night October 29th and enjoy football, food and fun! This is a fundraiser for "Big Brothers and Big Sisters" and will be held from 5 to 9pm. Dine in or take out. See you there!

Abalone Festival & Cook Off

Abalone Festival and Cook Off
The Abalone cookoff Mendocino Area Parks Association (MAPA), our local state parks supporting non-profit, invites you to the Abalone Festival and Cook Off, 10 AM to 4 PM at Caspar Community Center on October 6. Although Judge's tickets are already sold out (Judge's get tastings from a portion of the competing Cooks), the festival is open to the public and will be serving clam chowder you can purchase, wine, and other refreshments. The Festival includes a Silent Auction thanks to generous sponsors, and it always features great fun, camaraderie, live music, and information on our precious abalone and coastal water resources from the Department of Fish and Game. County Fair & Apple show

The 80th Annual Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show takes place Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16th at the Boonville Fairgrounds in Anderson Valley. Hours are 9a.m. to midnight daily. Boonville is about an hour an a half south of Fort Bragg, take your time to enjoy the beautiful drive along the coast, and through a beautiful forest!
Some special events include the carnival, Apple Bowl footbal, the parade and classic car show, sheep dog trials, apple tasting, wine tasting, and livestock shows...Also, don't forget about the Friendly Farm Petting Zoo. For more info, visit their website at
