Celebrate The Winter Solstice
Pam Matlick
In Pagan times, there was an ancient fear that the failing light would never return again. Humans believed by having sacred ceremonies and celebrations to honor the Sun God that again the upcoming year would be warm, bright and prosperous.
So, on the night of The Winter Solstice, the longest and darkest night of the year, their ceremonies were held. Celebrated with favorite family foods, drinks and gift-giving and Hope – for the New Year. A spiritual rebirth…of Us and of the Earth.
Remember, whatever your faith or whatever you may choose to celebrate, winder is a time of rest, peace and understanding. It is a time for all to share our spirit with the ones we love, Our dear Friends, our Family and others Generously and Unconditionally.

Huge Swells
Gaby, Front Desk Representative
WOW! This morning started off with a beautiful sunrise. The sky
was cloudy, which created a very dramatic pink sky! Very gorgeous! When you
walked outside, there was a slight amount of wind, but you didn't exactly
need a coat. There was quiet a bit of humidity in the air. Almost nice to
not have to wear a coat.To top off the weather, we had HUGE swells all day
long. They were very intense in the morning, and kept on all day. They would
quiet down for just a few seconds, and next thing you know, here came
another one! Great to see people so excited over the waves, taking pictures
out on the bluffs!

Lighted Truck Parade Part 2
Mariah, Front Desk Representative
The lighted truck parade was great if you got to go!! Most of the shops stayed open, so you could grab some hot coffe or chocolate! REALLY chilly, but it only added to the "snow" effect on some floats!!
If you didn't make it this year! try again for next!!!

Beautiful December
Gaby, Front Desk Representative
Wow, another wonderful sunny day for us here in Fort Bragg. Who would've thought this year, December would start out so sunny! I remember last year, we had rain for I don't know how many days in a row ...it wasn't too fun. Today, there isn't even a gust of wind...just perfect! It's great to hear people tell us how bad they don't want to check out, and would love to stay another night with us here at the Beachcomber!

Donating Blood
Gaby, Front Desk Representative
Everyone is encouraged to come out and donate blood...and save a life! Its good to get the word out to EVERYONE considering that reports indicate that the nation's blood supply is dipping to critically low levels much more frequently and for longer periods than in the past.

Frost
Gaby, Front Desk Representative
Well, December is finally here... which means the temperature will be dropping little by little. Just a friendly reminder for those early birds here at the Beachcomber. It does drop to the 30's overnight, make sure you are careful if you're walking out on the blacktop early in the morning because it may be frosty. We dont want anyone to hurt themselves because of the slippery frost...!
